You and your Little can enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of Canalside while playing a game. Old fashioned board games are available, as well as new ones. The best part is, you can rent them for free! The Foundry is a studio/gallery space for local artisans, started by Net+Positive, a Foundation with the mission of activating models of neighborhood prosperity through innovations in housing, entrepreneurship and the environment. On the second Saturday of each month, The Foundry hosts an evening of arts and music, with different acts featured each time. Fresh Produce is always on sale from local farms, too! It’s a great way to support local artists and musicians with your Little! The Foundry also hosts several workshops that might be of interest to you and your Little. On Saturday, September 14th from 12-2pm we have a trip to Squaw Island planned with the Buffalo Audubon Society. This is a great opportunity for you and your Little to get out and explore the great outdoors. Did you know that Squaw Island is a wetland and is the home to many different bird and animal species that you might not see other places in Western New York? Throughout the two hour trek, a environmental and wildlife expert will teach us interesting facts about the watershed, animals, and environment. Fruit Roll-Up Sushi– A fun & tasty way to introduce your Little to new cuisine. What you need: Box of Fruit Roll-ups Jar of Marshmallow Fluff (green food coloring if you want to make it look like Wasabi) Rice Krispies Swedish Fish Directions: Roll out Fruit Roll-up, spread fluff, add Rice Krispies and Swedish fish. Roll back up and cut into regular sushi size pieces. To add more fun, purchase some “kid friendly” sushi like California or Avocado Rolls and serve as your main meal. Again, this is a great way to introduce new cuisine and make it fun!
The third annual Canalside Holiday Celebration is a free, festive, and family-friendly event centered around our majestic 30-foot evergreen tree at Downtown Buffalo and Canalside’s newest waterfront attraction – the East Canal, located near the corner of Scott and Washington Streets next to the “Erie Canal Harbor” Station on the NFTA Metro Rail!
