Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County and Media Sponsor, Kiss 98.5 are excited to honor Amber Small as this week’s Women Who Move the City Wednesday Honoree! Amber serves as the Executive Director of the Parkside Community Association (PCA). In this role she is an advocate for 2,500 residents, working to enhance their quality of life through crime prevention, traffic calming, fair housing advocacy and more. Amber happily shares that she could not have asked for a better job because everyday she gets to go to work and help her neighbors. Women Who Move the City Wednesday- Congrats Cheryl Bird!
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County is honored to celebrate Cheryl Bird as this week’s featured Women Who Move the City Wednesday (WWMTC) Honoree! Cheryl joined the Daemen College Center for Sustainable Communities and Civic Engagement in 2002 as Seneca Babcock Community Coordinator, was promoted to Director of Community Relations for the CSCCE, and in 2004 was asked to serve as the Executive Director. The CSCCE partners with three disadvantaged Buffalo neighborhoods, Seneca Babcock, the West Side and Broadway Fillmore, to address educational, economic and environmental needs. They sustain long term collaborations with community agencies in the three neighborhoods to benefit the communities, and Daemen faculty and students. Lasting Legacy of Friendship Big Sister Continues to Support Agency After Passing Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie, Niagara and the Southern Tier recently celebrated a thoughtful legacy gift made by long-time Big Sister, Janet McMahon, who recently passed away. Janet made one more gift to the Big Brothers Big Sisters program to honor her lifetime commitment to helping children reach their full potential. Big Appreciation Mixer
In conjunction with the celebration of National Volunteer Appreciation Week (April 15th- April 21st), we recognized our volunteer Big Brothers and Big Sisters and Board Members at the “Big Appreciation Mixer”. The party was held at the historic Red Cross Mansion. Over 50 Big Brothers and Big Sisters and theirguests will enjoyed light hors d’oeuvres, desserts and drinks.
