Our 7th Annual Fore the Children Golf Tournament, presented by Transitowne and PCB Piezotronics, raised over $55,000.00! 128 golfers enjoyed a wonderful day at Transit Valley Country Club that included skills contests, auctions and lunch & dinner sponsored by Independent Health. During dinner, Mark Ferm of Tronconi, Segarra & Associates was presented the Hedwig “De” Moss Leadership Award. Mrs. Moss created this award in honor of her late husband & founder of BBBSEC, Robert F. Moss, to recognize an individual for outstanding community support. A BIG thanks to our presenting sponsors Transitowne and PCB Piezotronics for their outstanding support and to all of our golf & auction committee members for putting together such an excellent event. Last but not least, our sincere thanks to our committee co-chairs Brian Murphy of Lawley Benefits and Kevin Paris of BlueCross BlueShield of WNY for their dedication and leadership. We look forward to another successful golf event in 2014!!

  • Thank You General Mills!

    A BIG thanks to the General Mills Foundation & the employees involved in the Buffalo Community Action Council for the generous grant of $5,000 for our Site Based Mentoring Program (SBM).  In addition to support as a funding partner, we’ve rom General Mills host activities for the children and mentors in our program. Recently, our kids enjoyed two wonderful opportunities with the General Mills in the Community volunteers.  A group hosted an afternoon of fun activities with the kids in the SBM program at Enterprise Charter School. Events included building marshmallow catapults and then playing a game to try to catch the flying marshmallows. The kids had a blast using math/science skills and of course, shooting marshmallows!   • Women Who Move the City Wednesday-Congrats Breanna Pugh!

    Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County and Media Sponsor, Kiss 98.5 are excited to honor Breanna Pugh as this week’s Women Who Move the City Wednesday Honoree! Breanna, a Marketing Manager at Ivoclar Vivadent in Amherst, dedicates countless hours of her free time to supporting local charities. As a member of B Team Buffalo, a group that focuses on improving the city of Buffalo and surrounding communities through volunteer opportunities, she has helped on projects with multiple community organizations. This year, Breanna served as a committee member for the B Team’s City of Light project.     Help “End the Wait” for Children in Need of a Mentor

    Currently, there are more than 120 children waiting to be matched with a mentor. To bring attention to their stories and inspire volunteers, we’re launching our new #TheBIGWait social media campaign. Every Wednesday, we’ll call on our supporters to help by highlighting the urgent need for mentors in specific areas.

  • Thank Your Mentor Day

    Over 50 Big Brothers and Big Sisters and their Littles celebrated National Thank Your Mentor Day at a dinner, craft and activity night held at the Niagara Frontier American Legion Post. As matches arrived, they had their photos taken and printed. The pictures were then put into frames that our Little Brothers and Sisters created that night as a thank you gift for their mentor. Additionally, our matches enjoyed a terrific dinner by Mr. G’s catering and playing games. Again, a special thanks to all of our Bigs for making a difference and helping the kids in our program reach their full potential!
