Under the Lights was founded by Verve Dance Studio, and is a special annual edition of their monthly competition Battle @ Buffalo. This month’s event marks Verve’s 8th anniversary. Battle @ Buffalo is regularly held on the last Saturday of each month, and is the city’s only all ages urban dance competition. The battles are family friendly, with music edited for content, and cost only $5 to watch and $6 to battle (events like this in other cities can cost upwards of $25!).
Verve Dance Studio is a dance school and community center dedicated to the art of B-Boying (break-dancing) and Hip-Hop Culture. The studio offers classes as well as open sessions where dancers can come together, practice and learn from each other, encouraging community dynamics within a setting that allows them to interact with dancers of all skill levels.
Classes can be taken on a pay-as-you-go basis or can be purchased in 12-week discounted sessions.
