Join Us! Fore the Children Golf Tournament
BBBSEC’s Annual Fore the Children Golf Tournament, presented by PCB Piezotronics, will be held on Monday, July 27th at Transit Valley Country Club. Golfers will enjoy a wonderful day on a beautiful course and a golfer gift, lunch and beverages. A delicious dinner will also be served following golf and guests will enjoy a basket & live auction. A BIG Boat Cruise
A group of matches enjoyed a beautiful summer day aboard the Grand Lady docked at the Holiday Inn in Grand Island! The 2-hour cruise included points of interest on the Buffalo shoreline and interesting facts about Buffalo’s waterways. For many of the kids this was their first time on a boat. A special thanks to the Holiday Inn-Grand Island for generously donating the delicious lunch served while we were aboard!
A BIG Welcome To Summer!
Over 150 guests, including Bigs & Littles, staff & the Board of Directors joined us for our Annual Welcome Summer Picnic at the Harlem Road Community Center. Guests enjoyed a barbecue dinner, crafts and summer picnic favorites like tug of war and sack races. In addition to celebrating the start of summer, we recognized our 5 Little Brothers & Sisters who graduated from high school this year and their Bigs who supported them along the way. During this presentation, we also announced some exciting news…The Big Brothers Big Sisters Daemen College Scholarship! Our very own Big Sister Sandra Looker, a Daemen staff member in financial aid, shared that any Little graduating from high school, that attends Daemen College, will receive a $500.00 scholarship per year…
10th Year for the Fore The Children Golf Tournament
A BIG thanks to all who supported our 10th Annual Fore the Children Golf Tournament presented by PCB Piezotronics at Transit Valley Country Club on Monday, August 25th! We raised $60k to match more local kids facing adversity with caring mentors! The day started out rainy but the skies cleared in time for our 12:30 pm start. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County is honored to celebrate Lorna MacDonald Czarnota as this week’s featured Women Who Move the City Wednesday (WWMTC) Honoree! Lorna, an award-winning storyteller and author, has delighted audiences in schools, libraries, festivals and conferences throughout the United States, Canada, and Ireland with traditional and original stories since 1985. She is the founder and executive director of Crossroads Story Center, Inc., a not-for-profit reaching at-risk youth through story, music and art. The organization is dedicated to helping young people navigate troubled waters through the model of story by mentoring and forming productive adult/youth partnerships. Megan McNally is co-founder and Executive Director of The Foundry, an organization on the east side of Buffalo that supports business creation, education and creativity.
