Welcome Summer Picnic Fun & School Success Celebration!

FullSizeRenderOur Bigs & Littles celebrated the start of summer at our Annual Welcome Summer Picnic sponsored by Wegmans. Guests enjoyed dinner and a number of fun activities including carnival games run by volunteers from Ingram Micro. As part of our Pathways to STEM Partnership with National Grid, the kids mixed and measured just the right ingredients to create homemade “silly putty”. Littles also created handmade bookmarks and received new books for summer reading thanks toMichaels and had a chance to explore a fire truck from the Snyder Fire Department.

The highlight of the evening was taking a moment to congratulate our Littles who are moving up to high school and the nine Little Brothers & Sisters who graduated from high school this year. Congrats to all on a job well done!

A BIG thanks again to our sponsors and volunteers who helped us make this night a BIG success and create lifelong memories for our Little Brothers & Sisters.

  • 2012 Welcome Summer Picnic

    On June 19th, 2012, BBBSEC held it’s largest annual Summer Picnic (ever!) for all of our Bigs and Littles. This year, the backyard of Harlem Rd. Community Center was transformed in to a “Field Day” for Bigs and Littles to enjoy the warm weather and spend time playing games. Following a picnic lunch generously provided by Phillips Lytle LLP, matches were able to play football, soccer, Frisbee, run sack races and even join a large game of tug-of-war where over one hundred Bigs and Littles competed against each other! Many thanks to our presenting sponsor, TransitowneUSA for coming out to play football with our Littles and making such a fun day possible.

  • Spring It On!

    “Spring It On” is Buffalo Niagara’s Day of Giving, powered by United Way. This 24-hour online fundraising event, held on Friday, March 1, 2013, encourages individuals in the community to make a one-time, secure, online donation to the local not-for-profit agency of their choice. United Way is implementing this event in the Buffalo Niagara region in order to generate even more resources for nonprofits apart from the annual United Way campaign. You can help us raise the funds necessary to move 200 children from our waiting list to be matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister.     Take Your Little To Work Day

    As part of National Mentoring Month, Big Brothers Big Sisters participated in Take Your Little to Work Day.This day was a chance for our Littles to experience the typical workday for their Big and learn more about their career. Check out the photos! Big Sister Stephanie, a teacher, had her Little Sister Teonna join her in the classroom for the day.   • Women Who Move The City Awardees Announced

    On Thursday, April 10th, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County (BBBSEC) will host “Women Who Move the City” at Pearl @ The Webb.  This new fundraising event will celebrate BBBSEC’s female volunteers, as well as, women who volunteer throughout WNY.
