Through the caring time commitment of our Bigs, and the generous contributions of Western New Yorkers, these children have been empowered to achieve their current goals and reach for future aspirations.

Lawley Insurance Employees Give Back

To kick off the holiday season, employees from Lawley Insurance decided to give back in a very special way: with their time. Lawley hosted 10 of our Little Brothers and Little Sisters at the Buffalo Club where they spent a few hours bowling. Following the games, Littles enjoyed some dinner and finished the evening by frosting holiday cookies with their new friends. Thank you to everyone that made the evening so memorable and we hope to see you again next year!

An Evening With The Buffalo Sabres

In a joint program with Hasek’s Heroes (a program that provides a monthly skating and educational activity for kids and volunteers), a group of staff members from the Buffalo Sabres gave back in a BIG way by hitting the ice with some of the children that are currently waiting for a Big Brother or Big Sister. For many of the children participating, this was their first time on ice skates!  The Sabres staff helped kids get laced up, out on the ice and spent the evening learning a few moves and having a good time. Following the ice time with their Sabres Staff buddy, the kids enjoyed a pizza party and games. Great time had by all!

Women Who Move the City Wednesday- Congrats Sister Mary Augusta Kaiser!

BBBS of Erie County and Media Sponsor Kiss 98.5 & Janet Snyder are excited to celebrate Sister Mary Augusta Kaiser as today’s Women Who Move the City Wednesday Honoree! Sister Mary Augusta Kaiser founded the Teaching and Restoring Youth (TRY) Program, a home for homeless young women ages 16 to 21. These young women have suffered victimization, violence and are at risk for prostitution. TRY provides case management, counseling, health and wellness programs and classes in independent living skills. Each client is provided an individual bedroom and help from staff to return to school or to work on obtaining a GED. BBBS teams up with Kohl’s for a “Go Green Project”

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County (BBBSEC) teamed up with the five local Kohl’s Department Stores for Kohl’s National Go Green Event (NGG) in celebration of National Volunteer Week and Earth Day. On Sunday, May 1st, more than 40 Kohl’s associates participated in a one-day volunteer project at The Belle Center located on Buffalo’s Lower West Side.  The Kohl’s associates spread soil, planted bushes and flowers at the center.  Several BBBS staff and a Big Brother & Little Brother match joined the effort. Following their hard work, the group enjoyed lunch and the opportunity to view the changes they made to the outside appearance of the center.  A grant will be awarded to BBBSEC’s Site-Based Mentoring Program located at The Belle Center  in recognition…
