Do you know a woman who is making a BIG difference in our community?  We are currently seeking nominations of outstanding women serving as volunteers throughout WNY for our 2018 Women Who Move the City Honorees. For more information and to submit a nomination, click here. Nominations are due by Wednesday, February 14th at 5pm.

Celebrate the 2018 Women Who Move the City Honorees with an evening filled with networking, one of a kind shopping from a variety of local vendors, food and drinks!

Women Who Move the City recognizes Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County’s female volunteers, as well as women who volunteer throughout the Western New York Area. This is a night to celebrate these women who are positively impacting lives of others and making a difference in our community. It is also an evening to enjoy a one of a kind shopping experience, demonstrations and food tastings from local businesses. You will also have a chance to meet other people who are volunteering their time to make our community thrive!

  • Upgrade to BBBSEC’s Technology

    Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County (BBBSEC) received a grant of $37,950 from the Margaret L. Wendt Foundation to upgrade the organization’s outdated technology. Professional case management is critical to creating safe and long-lasting mentoring relationships. This technology upgrade strongly enhances the ability for BBBSEC’s professional case management to support and accurately document these relationships. “We were so very pleased to have the support of the foundation for a request that is very unique for an agency like ours,” shared Thomas Guagliardo, CEO of BBBSEC. “Our organization provides relationship support to hundreds of mentoring matches.   • Women Who Move the City Wednesday- Congrats Liz Callahan!

    Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County and Media Sponsor Kiss 98.5 are excited to celebrate Liz Callahan as our first 2016 Women Who Move the City Wednesday Honoree! Liz currently serves on the Board of Directors for Journey’s End Refugee Services and WNY STEM Hub. She is on the communications committee for the WNY Women’s Foundation and the event committee for the South Buffalo Community Table’s annual fundraiser and for Startup Grind. Liz also volunteers as a teacher for Junior Achievement of WNY. Previously, Liz was the chair of B Team Buffalo and also served as sponsorship coordinator for TEDx Buffalo from 2012-2015.   • BBBS teams up with Kohl’s for a “Go Green Project”

    Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County (BBBSEC) teamed up with the five local Kohl’s Department Stores for Kohl’s National Go Green Event (NGG) in celebration of National Volunteer Week and Earth Day. On Sunday, May 1st, more than 40 Kohl’s associates participated in a one-day volunteer project at The Belle Center located on Buffalo’s Lower West Side.  The Kohl’s associates spread soil, planted bushes and flowers at the center.  Several BBBS staff and a Big Brother & Little Brother match joined the effort. Following their hard work, the group enjoyed lunch and the opportunity to view the changes they made to the outside appearance of the center.  A grant will be awarded to BBBSEC’s Site-Based Mentoring Program located at The Belle Center  in recognition…
