Tiffany Lewis – Defender of Potential 

Tiffany Lewis, is currently the Founder and CEO of Confident Girl Mentoring Program, Inc (CGMP). Nationally recognized as a best practice for mentoring by MENTOR, CGMP an elite 501(c)(3) non-profit mentoring organization that utilizes evidence-based interventions to improve self-efficacy in girls ages 7-19. As a strong leader in youth mentoring with a demonstrated history of advocating for youth, Tiffany provides advocacy efforts on Teen Pregnancy Prevention, Teen Dating Violence, Self-Esteem and Confidence.

Tiffany holds a Masters of Social Work from the University of Michigan’s School of Social Work, a dual degree in Criminal Justice and Religious Studies, additional certifications from Harvard Graduate School of Education and is also a Licensed Esthetician certified in Clinical Oncology Esthetics.   Notably, Tiffany is the first African American female to receive this certification in Western New York.  In June 2014, she was selected to train in Washington, DC with former First Lady Michelle Obama’s personal Esthetician “JoElle Lee”, receiving another certificate in Dealing with Multicultural Skin. Tiffany has been featured in industry magazines, authored articles in local newspapers and a featured guest on tv and radio shows. Her preeminence in her field through her work with celebrities, professional athletes and world renowned artistic directors has afforded her to be a highly-regarded expert in the field of Esthetics.

Tiffany is no stranger to hard work, she volunteers her time by hosting many youth community events that provide mentoring services to over 1,000 girls. Some of her workshops include: The Self-Esteem Project, Youth Financial Literacy, Empowering Youth-M

ayor Byron Brown’s GameChangers, F.L.Y Workshop (First Love Yourself) and P.E.P Talk (Peers Educating Peers on Teen Dating Violence). She also volunteered with The American Cancer Society’s Look Good Feel Better Program, WNY Peace Center’s Women’s March and the NAACP Award Banquet. Through the work and her experience in community organizing, on October 20, 2018, Tiffany founded National Youth Confidence Day. Proclaimed by Mayor Byron Brown, Senator Tim Kennedy and the National Registry, the day will be recognized nationally every October 20th to celebrate the energy, spirit, and potential of young people everywhere. The day is an acknowledgment of all they will accomplish. Guidance, leadership and mentors will help light the path, and today’s youth will navigate the obstacles that will inevitably lay before them.

​Tiffany is a recipient of numerous distinguished awards and recognition for her contribution and commitment to leadership and mentoring services including a Congressional Record by Congressman Brian Higgins, Distinguished Honor as a 2018 Top-Rated Nonprofit Organizations by Perl Ni, CEO of Great Nonprofits, Buffalo Business First C-Level Executive Award, American Spa Magazine Mentor Finalist Award, NAACP Daniel R. Tiffany, a native of Memphis, TN moved to Buffalo at a young age. With the support of her family and friends, she continues to advocate, inspire and make a difference in the lives of youth by challenging them to pursue their aspirations and to stretch themselves beyond their comfort zone, to open their minds to see that the world is much broader and more diverse than their community.

  • Roller Skating Fun for our Bigs & Littles

    Our Bigs & Littles enjoyed a fun night of roller skating to some cool tunes at Depew Skating Center. Some of our Bigs & Littles were seasoned skaters, while several put on skates or roller blades for the first time ever! It was wonderful to see our matches work together to help those new to skating make it around the rink. In some cases, our Littles were a BIG help in keeping their Bigs staying upright! Of course, there were a few fancy skating moves, a few spills and lots of laughs! All would agree it was a great night full of fun and memories!

  • Women Who Move the City Wednesday-Congrats Alexa Zappia!

    Big Brothers Big Sisters is honored to celebrate Alexa Zappia as our first Women Who Move the City Wednesday (WWMTC) Honoree!  Alexa, a native of  Williamsville, is currently a senior at St. John Fisher College in Rochester. In 2009, Alexa faced tragedy when her life mentor, Susan Wehle, suddenly passed away in the Flight 3407 plane crash. Alexa wanted to do something that would make her proud by continuing to touch peoples’ lives as Susan touched hers. How does a 12-year-old grieve such a tragedy? To Alexa, she found her life’s purpose: to volunteer at struggling organizations within the Buffalo community. Since the plane crash, Alexa has accumulated over 3,000 volunteer hours.   • New Wheels For Summer

    A fun summer is ahead for the six Little Brothers and Little Sisters in our program who received brand new bikes on Friday. The bike build and donation was one of several projects completed on Global Volunteer Day by employees of Life Technologies Corporation located on Grand Island. Similar projects were happening at Life Technologies offices across the globe! This is the 4th year that Littles involved in BBBSEC received brand new bikes. The donation was a complete surprise to the Littles. They arrived with their Bigs at Life Technologies thinking they were going to have a tour and learn a bit more about the company.     Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County and Media Sponsor, Kiss 98.5 are excited to honor Breanna Pugh as this week’s Women Who Move the City Wednesday Honoree! Breanna, a Marketing Manager at Ivoclar Vivadent in Amherst, dedicates countless hours of her free time to supporting local charities. As a member of B Team Buffalo, a group that focuses on improving the city of Buffalo and surrounding communities through volunteer opportunities, she has helped on projects with multiple community organizations. This year, Breanna served as a committee member for the B Team’s City of Light project.   • United Way Day of Caring

    Every year, the United Way of Buffalo & Erie County holds a “Day of Caring” when corporate partners pick a project from a United Way affiliate and volunteer with that organization for one day. On Wednesday, August 15th employees from Ernst & Young joined BBBSEC and volunteered as a “Big for a Day”. Each employee was paired up with one child (their “Little”) who is currently enrolled with BBBSEC and waiting for their own Big Brother or Big Sister. Throughout the morning, each match played Beach Bingo, Shoe Scramble, participated in a balloon race and spent their time enjoying the nice weather and each other’s company.
