We are thrilled to share the success of our annual “FORE the Children Golf Tournament” held on Monday, July 29th, 2024, at the beautiful Brookfield Country Club. This year’s event was a resounding success, thanks to the incredible support from our community, sponsors, and tournament participants.

With perfect weather and a stunning course, 110 enthusiastic golfers came together to enjoy a day of competitive fun and philanthropy. We are proud to announce that, through the generosity of our supporters, we raised close to $50,000. These funds will go directly towards providing mentorship opportunities for the many deserving children in our program.

A highlight of the day was awarding the prestigious Hedwig “De” Moss Leadership Award to Lawley. This honor recognizes the organization’s unwavering dedication to creating meaningful mentorship opportunities for children in our community. We commend Lawley Insurance for their commitment and support to BBBS of Erie, Niagara and the Southern Tier.

Women Who Move the City Wednesday-Congrats Alex Dockstader

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County and Media Sponsor, Kiss 98.5 are excited to honor Alex Dockstader as this week’s Women Who Move the City Wednesday Honoree! Alex Dockstader, a Microsoft Channel Specialist at Ingram Micro Inc., exemplifies selflessness and has a strong passion for encouraging others. Weekly she shares her time as a Special Olympics Swim Coach, helping kids improve their swimming skills but also their confidence, drive, and passion. Whether it’s staying after practice to review what was taught that day or providing reassurance and encouragement, Alex is dedicated to her swimmers. It’s this commitment that gives these amazing athletes the confidence to succeed to the best of their abilities and like Alex, a former collegiate swimmer, a love for the sport!…

2012 Welcome Summer Picnic

On June 19th, 2012, BBBSEC held it’s largest annual Summer Picnic (ever!) for all of our Bigs and Littles. This year, the backyard of Harlem Rd. Community Center was transformed in to a “Field Day” for Bigs and Littles to enjoy the warm weather and spend time playing games. Following a picnic lunch generously provided by Phillips Lytle LLP, matches were able to play football, soccer, Frisbee, run sack races and even join a large game of tug-of-war where over one hundred Bigs and Littles competed against each other! Many thanks to our presenting sponsor, TransitowneUSA for coming out to play football with our Littles and making such a fun day possible.

An Evening With The Buffalo Sabres

In a joint program with Hasek’s Heroes (a program that provides a monthly skating and educational activity for kids and volunteers), a group of staff members from the Buffalo Sabres gave back in a BIG way by hitting the ice with some of the children that are currently waiting for a Big Brother or Big Sister. For many of the children participating, this was their first time on ice skates!  The Sabres staff helped kids get laced up, out on the ice and spent the evening learning a few moves and having a good time. Following the ice time with their Sabres Staff buddy, the kids enjoyed a pizza party and games. Great time had by all!
