Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie, Niagara & the Southern Tier is bringing new energy to its annual gala with “The BIG Celebration”, set for Saturday, November 1st at The Powerhouse in Buffalo. The night will highlight the impact of mentorship with heartfelt stories and community spirit—all supporting youth in Erie, Niagara, and Cattaraugus counties.

The BIG Little Bash—Buffalo Bills Style!

At 8PM, the vibe shifts into high gear with a Buffalo Bills-themed bash, featuring:

  • Women Who Move the City Wednesday-Congrats Alexa Zappia!

    Big Brothers Big Sisters is honored to celebrate Alexa Zappia as our first Women Who Move the City Wednesday (WWMTC) Honoree!  Alexa, a native of  Williamsville, is currently a senior at St. John Fisher College in Rochester. In 2009, Alexa faced tragedy when her life mentor, Susan Wehle, suddenly passed away in the Flight 3407 plane crash. Alexa wanted to do something that would make her proud by continuing to touch peoples’ lives as Susan touched hers. How does a 12-year-old grieve such a tragedy? To Alexa, she found her life’s purpose: to volunteer at struggling organizations within the Buffalo community. Since the plane crash, Alexa has accumulated over 3,000 volunteer hours. Alexa has received the President’s Volunteer Service Award for three consecutive years during Barack Obama’s…

Carmaletta has dedicated over fourteen years to the community as the Founder of the Morlock Foundation, Inc. The foundation’s mission is to improve quality of life, specifically focusing on those suffering from traumatic experiences. Services provided by the office located in Buffalo include a food pantry, work with foster children who have aged out of the system, support for foster parents and lastly, Save the Family, a program that offers support to families that suffer from the traumas that come with disease or disability.     BBBSEC’s Annual Fore the Children Golf Tournament, presented by PCB Piezotronics, will be held on Monday, July 27th at Transit Valley Country Club. Golfers will enjoy a wonderful day on a beautiful course and a golfer gift, lunch and beverages. A delicious dinner will also be served following golf and guests will enjoy a basket & live auction.     The Big Draft is here.  You’re on the clock! We’re thrilled to announce the Big Draft Recruitment Campaign! While the NFL is drafting its next players, we want to engage our community to help us draft the next generation of Bigs. This recruitment campaign stems from the BBBS partnership with the NFL Inspire Change Initiative. The goal of that program is to advance the national conversation and progress on social justice and to create positive change in communities across the country.
