Founder’s Day Picnic Celebrates the Power of Mentorship
An evening of laughter, learning, and life-changing connections.
There are some nights that perfectly capture what Big Brothers Big Sisters is all about. Our annual Founder’s Day Picnic was one of them.
More than 100 Bigs, Littles, family members, volunteers, and supporters gathered for an evening of fun, friendship, and celebration at the Williamsville Youth & Family Center. From the moment the grills fired up until the last game wrapped up, the evening was filled with laughter, connection, and memories that will last a lifetime.
Families enjoyed a classic summer cookout featuring hamburgers and hot dogs, while Littles and Bigs spent the evening playing games, creating art projects, exploring hands-on activities, and even building rockets with the help of volunteers from the University at Buffalo School of Engineering. Music from our DJ kept the energy high as everyone enjoyed a beautiful summer evening together.
One of the most meaningful moments of the night came as we recognized our graduating Littles. Their accomplishments serve as a reminder of the lasting impact that a caring mentor can have on a young person’s life. While graduation marks the end of one chapter, the relationships and confidence built through mentorship will continue for years to come.
Events like our Founders Day Picnic are only possible because of the incredible support of our community. A heartfelt thank you to our generous sponsors and partners, including Wegmans, Variety Club, and the University at Buffalo School of Engineering, for helping make this special evening possible.
At Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie, Niagara & the Southern Tier, every shared laugh, every encouraging conversation, and every moment spent together helps ignite the power and promise of youth. Founders Day reminds us that mentorship isn’t just about changing one child’s future—it’s about building stronger families, stronger communities, and brighter tomorrows.
