2013 Family Lake Exploration Programs

Spring and Summer in Buffalo mean a lot of things. Sunshine, heatwaves (but maybe a little hail here and there, who knows!), trips to the beach, cook-outs, and of course flip flops! Another big part of summer in Buffalo is the incredible Farmer’s Markets that spring up all over Western New York! Did you know that there are more than 20 in our area? There are many reasons to enjoy a morning at the Farmer’s Market with your Little. He or she will get the opportunity to try some of the freshest produce our local farms have to offer, and learn more about where it comes from. Our Annual Harvest Festival is taking place on Saturday, September 21st from 10am-12pm at Baird Point on UB’s North Campus. Parking is available in Arena Lot, Lake Lasalle Lot, and Furnace Hall Lot. There will be face-painting, games and fall-activities for you and your Little to enjoy. Snacks will be provided.      

The Junior Chamber of Commerce “Jaycees” have graciously chosen Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County as the beneficiary of its Annual Holiday Fundraiser! We want to extend an invitation to all our Bigs to attend this event with us!   It will take place at SoHo Burger Bar, 64 West Chippewa Street Buffalo, NY  14202 on Friday, December 20th from 7-10pm. Tickets are $30 per person, and includes light fare and three hours of open bar.   Cocktail/Business Attire, Adults Only

  Queen City Ferry offers a water ferry service between Buffalo’s inner and outer harbor. Board the Queen City Ferry at the Central Wharf. The Ferry travels to the Outer Harbor, Erie Basin Marina and along the Buffalo River to Riverfest Park in Buffalo’s old First Ward district. Operations are daily from 12-8pm mid May through September. Round trip takes approximately one (1) hour. Tickets are priced at $8 for adults, $6 for children. Experience the excellent programming offered by Young Audiences WNY at Canalside! You and your Little can enjoy and learn from performances, workshops, and engaging presentations from artists dedicated to education through the arts. Some activities include the Erie Canal Traveling Museum workshop, Configuration Dance Creative Movement workshop, Ismail & Co Singing in Different Languages and the Stuart Fuchs Ukelele Show.
