Give the Gift of Mentorship: Ways to Support Big Brothers Big Sisters this Holiday Season

During this Season of Giving, we are reminded of the power of generosity, connection, and the impact we can make together. At Big Brothers Big Sisters, our mission is to ignite the potential in every child through the power of mentorship—and your support plays a vital role in making that happen. Whether you choose to donate, shop to support, or volunteer, there are so many ways to make a BIG difference in the life of a child.

Bigs & Littles Sing, Compete, and Celebrate at Our Annual Holiday Celebration

The holidays are a time to gather, play, share food, and enjoy the company of those who matter most—and that’s exactly what we did at this year’s annual BBBS Holiday Celebration. Held at the welcoming Harlem Road Community Center, the event brought together Bigs, Littles, and Match Family members for an evening filled with joy, games, music, and connection.

Celebrating Mentorship: Highlights from the 2024 BBBS Gala Celebration

On November 16th, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie, Niagara & The Southern Tier hosted our 2024 Celebration Gala at the stunning Powerhouse by The Rich Entertainment Group, raising over $170,000 to support life-changing mentorship programs. The evening celebrated the contributions of Dr. Christine Farrow, CTBK, and Big Sisters Elizabeth Burakowski and Candice Miller. Thanks to the generosity of attendees, sponsors, and donors, we are ready to continue to ignite the potential of even more children across Western New York.

Celebrating Native American Heritage Month

Native American Heritage Month Resources

November is Native American Heritage Month, a time to honor the rich histories, traditions, and contributions of Indigenous peoples. In New York State, we recognize eight federally acknowledged tribes, many of whom belong to the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, also known as the “People of the Longhouse.” Their symbol, the Hiawatha Belt, embodies a legacy of peace among five of the six nations.

From the invention of lacrosse to place names like Manhattan, Indigenous cultures have left an enduring mark on our land and history.

Discover local exhibits and virtual resources to deepen your and your Littles understanding and appreciation of Native American heritage this month!
