Summer Reading 2013, Buffalo and Erie County Public Library Kids ages 12 & under Summer Reading participants are asked to write brief book reviews, each of which counts as an entry in a prize drawing. Summer with Young Audiences of Western New York
Young Audiences of Western New York will once again be hosting regular summer shows and activities at Canalside and Old Falls again this summer! Every Wednesday 11am and 12pm at Canalside July 2nd through August 27th (44 Prime Street Buffalo, NY 14202) Every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 12pm and 1pm July 2nd-August 23rd (Old Falls Street Niagara Falls 14303) Dynamic and educational summer experiences that explore Western New York’s history with local artists in dance, spoken word, music, theatre, and visual arts. Families and children will see and learn from Western New York artists, and interact with artists during hands-on programming. Check out Young Audiences’ Public Programs page for more details!
Queen City Ferry
Queen City Ferry offers a water ferry service between Buffalo’s inner and outer harbor. Board the Queen City Ferry at the Central Wharf. The Ferry travels to the Outer Harbor, Erie Basin Marina and along the Buffalo River to Riverfest Park in Buffalo’s old First Ward district. Operations are daily from 12-8pm mid May through September. Round trip takes approximately one (1) hour. Tickets are priced at $8 for adults, $6 for children. Third Annual Canalside Holiday Celebration
The third annual Canalside Holiday Celebration is a free, festive, and family-friendly event centered around our majestic 30-foot evergreen tree at Downtown Buffalo and Canalside’s newest waterfront attraction – the East Canal, located near the corner of Scott and Washington Streets next to the “Erie Canal Harbor” Station on the NFTA Metro Rail! The 2013 Celebration kicks off at 4:30 pm on Friday, December 20th, with holiday singing and free kids activities (in a heated tent!), all leading up to the arrival of Santa Claus on the NFTA’s Metro Rail to assist us with our tree lighting! The festivities continue Saturday, December 21st, from 1-5 pm with more free kids activities, free horse-drawn carriage rides, live music, food trucks, and another visit from Santa Claus on the Metro…
Young Audiences of WNY at Canalside
Experience the excellent programming offered by Young Audiences WNY at Canalside! You and your Little can enjoy and learn from performances, workshops, and engaging presentations from artists dedicated to education through the arts. Some activities include the Erie Canal Traveling Museum workshop, Configuration Dance Creative Movement workshop, Ismail & Co Singing in Different Languages and the Stuart Fuchs Ukelele Show.
